Cartier and the Arts of Islam, an exhibition of jewelry masterpieces.

We rush to discover the exhibition "Cartier and the arts of Islam, at the sources of modernity », at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs before it ends on February 20. Co-produced by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris and the Dallas Museum of Art, with the exceptional collaboration of the Louvre and the support of the Maison Cartier, this exhibition bears witness to the influence of the arts of Islam on the Maison's creations of jewelry since the beginning of the 20th century until today. You will have the privilege of observing more than 500 exceptional pieces retracing Cartier’s interest in oriental motifs.

The exhibition traces all the steps in creating jewelry for the first time. You will also be immersed in the history of 20th century Paris in order to contextualize the creations and allow the Cartier house to show the modernity of this very young house of the time. Indeed its creation dates from 1847.

Secondly, you will be able to admire the repertoire of Islamic art forms that inspired the house of fine jewelry through the private collections that belonged to the grandsons of the founder of the Cartier house.

Now is the time to discover the history of this House at the same time as that of 20th century Paris.
