The Jardin d'Acclimatation

Looking for something to do in Paris during your stay at the Hôtel du Jeu de Paume? Don't miss the Jardin d'Acclimatation, a magical place that will delight young and old alike. Located in the Bois de Boulogne, this historic park transports you to a world that is both nostalgic and enchanting, with lush nature, animals, vintage games, and creative workshops.

Created in 1860 under Napoleon III, the garden has lost none of its splendor. Today, it still embodies a true return to childhood, combining tradition and modernity.

Before being an amusement park, the Jardin d'Acclimatation is an extraordinary garden. You will discover an impressive collection of plants: oaks, weeping willows, lime trees, Judas trees, but also rarer species such as Ginkgo biloba and Davidia involucrata, nicknamed the handkerchief tree.

The vegetable garden is just as fascinating: Turkish eggplants, Japanese burdocks, Florence fennel, and oriental cabbages flourish alongside an astonishing floral clock. Children will love meeting Gilda, Gaspard, and Octavine the bears, as well as the many farm animals, ducks, swans, exotic birds, and mischievous squirrels.

The historic mini train will take you on a leisurely ride to the park entrance, where more than 40 attractions and experiences await you. The Garden Workshops are a real hit: children can garden, create herbariums, make bouquets, or flower jams.

Parents can learn about the art of perfume, painting, or discover the history of tea. Seasonal festivities (Easter, Christmas, birthdays, etc.) punctuate the year, creating a unique intergenerational bond.

And above all, don't leave without taking a ride on the Rivière Enchantée, a legendary attraction dating back to 1927, lined with reeds and irises, a testament to the park's history and the old-fashioned charm of its early days.

The Jardin d'Acclimatation was born out of the ambition of Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, a visionary zoologist who wanted to create a space dedicated to botany, exotic fauna, and popular education. The inauguration in 1860, attended by Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie, attracted a crowd of artists and intellectuals, from Offenbach to Dumas.

After a long period of neglect, the park was completely renovated to restore it to its former glory, while adapting it to the expectations of a modern audience.
