The Monnaie de Paris by night

Staying in Paris and looking for a unique cultural evening activity? Every Wednesday, the Monnaie de Paris opens its doors late, until 9:00 p.m. A perfect opportunity to explore a historic landmark in a more intimate and serene atmosphere.

Founded in 864 under Charles II the Bald, the Monnaie de Paris is the oldest institution still in operation in France. Since 1775, it has been housed in the grand neoclassical palace on the Quai de Conti. Both a working mint, a museum, and a heritage site, it was fully renovated in 2017 to offer an immersive, sensory, and interactive visitor experience.

Highlights of the visit:

  • Explore the permanent collections, retracing the history of money and metals

  • Watch craft workshops and live demonstrations

  • Discover innovative tools such as the Numiscope to examine works in detail

  • Enjoy a unique evening ambiance with special lighting during the nocturnal opening

The Monnaie de Paris evening visits take place every Wednesday, with extended opening hours until 9:00 p.m. (last entry at 8:30 p.m.). The perfect way to explore a museum in Paris after a day of sightseeing or work.
