A new exhibition at the Arab World Institute !

This incredible exhibition honors the greatest artists of the Arab world of the 20th century. Their careers, stories, legacies… it makes us discover their lives, their arts, but also the changes that these famous singers and actresses may have brought.

From Oum Kalthoum to Warda al-Djazaïria, from Asmahan to Fayrouz, from Laila Mourad to Samia Gamal, including Souad Hosni, Sabah without forgetting the very young Dalida, these famous divas will embody during their careers the revolution of women, the rise in artistic and intellectual industries during the "golden age", and will thus become true symbols, icons, powerful and adulated women who will help the birth of feminism, the struggles for independence in their societies , and will also bring profound innovations within their respective industries.

In four acts, this great exhibition will first of all make you discover the pioneering and avant-garde feminist women of Egypt, then the most famous singers such as Oum Kalthoum, Warda, Fayrouz and Asmahan, then you will discover the journey of famous divas such as Laila Mourad, Samia Gamal, Sabah, Tahiyya Carioca, Hind Rostom or Dalida, and the success of many Egyptian musicals. Finally, the legacy of these divas will be put in perspective to today's artists, and we will see how all of these icons have been a major source of inspiration and new artworks for the new generation.

Along the road, you will discover many photographs, extracts from films or concerts, cinematographic posters, sublime stage dresses, personal items and rare interviews… An exhibition full of glitter !
